ZYCOO VC-Z01 Network Volume Controller

The ZYCOO VC-Z01 is a wall-mounted volume knob for ZYCOO network speakers. Turn it and the speakers in that room or zone change volume in real time, with no need to open software or ask an administrator. It is powered over PoE, so it needs only a network cable, and it can lock itself to stop unauthorised changes.

It suits classrooms, meeting rooms, offices, hotels, restaurants, retail stores and other indoor spaces where the people in the room should be able to adjust the volume without being able to switch the system off or change settings.

Local volume control for network speakers

On a conventional PA system, a wall volume control cuts the signal at the speaker. On an IP system, there is no analogue line to put a dial on. The VC-Z01 solves this by sending volume commands to the speakers in its area over multicast. A teacher can turn a classroom down, or a receptionist can turn the lobby music up, and only the speakers in that zone respond.

Scheduled volume control

The VC-Z01 supports the IP Audio Center Event Scheduler. It can automatically change volume, set a fixed volume, and mute or unmute speakers at set times. That suits sites where the right level changes through the day, such as quieter background music at breakfast, louder music at lunch, and a fixed level for after-hours announcements.

The VC-Z01 controls ZYCOO speakers within its zone. The following IPS models list VC-Z01 compatibility:

Installation

The VC-Z01 is powered by PoE (IEEE 802.3af/at) through its single RJ45 port, so there is no separate power supply. It can be fitted two ways:

• Wall mount: with the EA-MB1 mounting box.
• Flush mount: into a standard 1-gang electrical box.

The front panel is 6063 aluminium alloy, and the unit weighs 210g. It is configured through a web interface, or by auto provisioning server, and supports the MQTT IoT protocol.
