Hire the Challenger 1000 Portable PA System with Two Wireless Microphones and Speaker Stand
The Challenger 1000 is Edwards NZ's most popular mid-to-large portable PA system — a 200 watt two-way speaker with a 10" American-branded bass driver, built-in battery, and a retractable handle and trolley for straightforward transport. It delivers noticeably more output and bass presence than the smaller Focus 505 and StagePro units, making it the right choice when the audience is larger, the outdoor area is bigger, or the event needs more acoustic authority.
Edwards NZ has supplied Chiayo portable systems for over 25 years. The Challenger is proven, reliable, and one of the most commonly hired portable PA systems in the fleet for good reason — it handles the full range of corporate outdoor events, school sports days, agricultural shows, markets, and public gatherings without complaint.
The Challenger runs on its internal rechargeable lead-acid battery for 5 to 6 hours playing music or over 10 hours for speech-only events, and accepts mains power for all-day operation. At 20kg with the trolley handle extended it is manageable for one person across flat ground, and the built-in wheels mean it rolls easily across most outdoor surfaces.
Bluetooth streaming handles music playback directly from a phone or laptop. USB and SD card playback works for pre-loaded music and backing tracks. The built-in MP3 recorder captures directly to USB or SD card — useful for recording ceremonies, AGMs, lectures, or any event where a recording is needed without additional equipment. Wired microphone and instrument inputs allow additional sources to be connected alongside the wireless microphones.
Up to four modular UHF wireless microphone receivers can be fitted, with two installed as standard in this hire package. The hire includes one handheld and one lapel wireless microphone. Either can be swapped for a headset at no additional charge, and the styles can be mixed — one handheld and one lapel, two lapels, whatever suits the event. Additional microphones can be added for a small fee, up to the four-receiver limit.
The Voice Priority function automatically reduces music volume when a microphone is active — useful for announcements during background music playback. Switch it off if a performer is singing with backing tracks or if the presenter wants music to continue at full level during their speech.
