Hire the Chiayo Challenger 1000 Portable PA System with Wireless Extension Speaker, Two Wireless Microphones and Speaker Stands

The CHALLENG2 gives you two battery-powered speakers with no audio cable between them — the Challenger 1000 master unit and a wireless companion speaker linked by RF signal up to 80 metres apart. Both run on their own internal batteries. Place them wherever the coverage is needed, with no mains power required at either position and no cable running between them.

This is the hire package for events where one speaker cannot cover the whole site, or where running a cable between positions is not practical. A speaker at the stage and another at the back of a large crowd. A unit each side of a road or entrance. One at the marquee and one at the field. The wireless link handles the audio — you position each speaker where it needs to be and the system takes care of the rest.

The Challenger 1000 master unit delivers 200 watts through a two-way 10" speaker system with a full-range bass driver that gives it noticeably more output and low-end authority than smaller portable systems. It runs on its internal rechargeable battery for 5 to 6 hours playing music or over 10 hours for speech, and accepts mains power for all-day events. Bluetooth streaming handles music from a phone or laptop. USB and SD card playback works for pre-loaded music. The built-in MP3 recorder captures directly to USB or SD card for recording ceremonies, lectures, or meetings.

The wireless companion speaker has its own amplifier and battery, receiving the audio signal from the Challenger wirelessly. It also has a wired speaker output, so you can connect additional passive 8-ohm speakers — horn speakers in a field, for example — directly from the slave unit for extended coverage without any additional amplifier. This makes the system genuinely expandable for large outdoor sites where coverage needs to reach beyond what two speakers alone can deliver.

One important operating note: the wireless repeater module must be powered on manually after the master unit is switched on. Press and hold the repeater button for two seconds until it activates. This is the most commonly missed setup step on site and the first thing to check if the slave speaker has no audio. A 20 metre XLR cable is included in the kit as a backup connection if the wireless link is not needed or as a fallback.

Up to four modular UHF wireless microphone receivers can be fitted to the master unit, with two installed as standard. The hire includes one handheld and one lapel wireless microphone. Either can be swapped for a headset at no additional charge, and the styles can be mixed. Additional microphones can be added for a small fee up to the four-receiver limit.

What is included in the hire pa package:

  • Chiayo Challenger 1000 portable PA system (master)
  • 1 Chiayo wireless companion speaker (slave)
  • 1 handheld wireless microphone
  • 1 lapel wireless microphone (swappable for headset at no charge)
  • 2 speaker stands
  • 20 metre XLR cable (backup)
  • Mains power cables
  • All cables required

Ideal for: Large outdoor events and public gatherings, school sports days and athletics carnivals, race courses and fun runs, agricultural shows and markets, outdoor wedding ceremonies, street events and festivals, any site where audio needs to cover two separated areas simultaneously. Covers up to 300 people across both speaker positions for speech events.

Need to cover an even larger area? Additional slave speakers and repeater modules can be chained beyond the included companion speaker, with each relay point adding another 50 to 80 metres of range. The passive speaker output on the slave unit also allows horn speakers or additional cabinets to be wired directly without extra amplification. Ask us about multi-zone configurations when booking.

Need more microphones? The Challenger accepts up to four wireless receivers simultaneously. Additional handheld, lapel, or headset microphones can be added at a small additional charge.
