Audiocenter DS08 - 8" Point-Source Installation Loudspeaker

The Audiocenter DS08 is a 150W passive full-range loudspeaker in a CNC-machined multi-ply birch enclosure, stepping up from the DS06 with an 8" LF driver, 2.0" voice coil, and 119dB continuous / 125dB peak SPL the specification for larger rooms, higher output requirements, and installations where the DS06's 6" driver reaches its limits. At 245×447×264mm and 10kg, it remains compact enough for unobtrusive installation while delivering the headroom a larger venue, live music space, or outdoor area demands. IP54 weather resistance and Polyurea coating make it equally at home indoors and out.

How does the DS08 differ from the DS06?

The DS08 carries the same mounting system, IP54 rating, rotatable horn, and Polyurea coating as the DS06 the platform is identical. What changes is the driver. The 8" LF driver with 2.0" voice coil extends low-frequency output and improves power handling from 100W to 150W, pushing peak SPL from 118dB to 125dB. That 7dB difference is substantial in practice it is the difference between a speaker that comfortably covers a medium conference room or bar and one that handles a large function room, outdoor courtyard, or live music venue at full programme levels without strain.

The DS08 is the right choice when the DS06's output ceiling is the limiting factor, or when the venue size or acoustic environment demands more low-frequency extension and headroom.

Where does the DS08 get specified?

Larger conference and function rooms — 125dB peak SPL means the DS08 covers large flat-floor function spaces, hotel ballrooms, and multi-purpose halls with even distribution and clear speech intelligibility across the full room depth. The passive crossover runs directly from a standard installation amplifier.

Live music bars and entertainment venues — the 8" driver handles live band and DJ programme levels without the compression artefacts that push a smaller driver beyond its limits at high output. At 119dB continuous, the DS08 sustains full-level output through extended performances.

Outdoor stages and large courtyards — IP54 protection covers rain and splash exposure. The DS08's additional output headroom means it fills larger outdoor areas — open terraces, beer gardens, outdoor stages, and festival side-of-stage positions — without supplementary cabinets in most applications.

Houses of worship with larger sanctuaries — the 8" LF driver produces the warmth and body in the lower midrange that makes vocal reproduction feel natural in a reverberant space. The rotatable horn adapts coverage to the width-to-depth ratio of the specific room.

Delay and fill positions in larger PA systems — where the DS06 works as a compact fill in a smaller system, the DS08 handles the same role in a larger rig where the main system SPL is higher and fill speakers need to keep pace.
