Hire the DAS Audio Convert-15A High-Performance PA System
Hire this sound system package when you have people to impress. It's perfect for DJ, Dance Party, Nightclub, theatre, Auditorium and Band use, or a mixture of all.
The CONVERT8K is Edwards' premium legacy PA system -two DAS Audio Convert 15A powered point-source tops and four DAS Audio Avant118A powered 18" subwoofers. Combined peak output exceeds 18,500 watts. A mixer is not included; this system accepts any balanced XLR feed from your own console or from an Edwards mixer hire.
The Convert 15A is one of DAS Audio's most remarkable speakers; a cabinet they discontinued not because it was superseded, but because it was simply too expensive to manufacture. The models that replaced it cost less to build and, in some respects, deliver less. The Convert 15A's three M-60 neodymium compression drivers on a bespoke waveguide, FIR DSP processing, and 2,000W peak amplifier produce a sound quality that experienced ears notice immediately. Resolution, headroom, and dynamic range that most modern speaker systems don't match.
The four Avant118A subwoofers are rear-loaded horn designs which sound tighter, more musical, and more efficient than conventional bass reflex subs. They are 55kg each. This is not a casual self-collect system and suits events where audio quality is genuinely important and the crew knows what they are doing with it.
Note: the Convert 15A has 40° horizontal dispersion in point-source mode which makes it a focused, long-throw system that rewards careful positioning. It is not a wide-scatter box. For events requiring broad horizontal coverage, Edwards' VANTEC or the EVENT array systems may be more appropriate.
**What's included:**
- 2 × DAS Audio Convert 15A active tops
- 4 × DAS Audio Avant118A powered 18" subwoofers
- All cables required
- Mixer not included: hire separately or bring your own
**Ideal for:** Large corporate events · Concerts and live music · High-end DJ events · Discerning clients where audio quality is a priority · Up to 900 people indoors · Operator experience recommended
The system requires a large van and a minimum of two experienced crew — the four Avant118A subwoofers are 55kg each and the Convert 15A cabinets require careful handling. Edwards strongly recommends delivery and professional setup for this system; it is not suited to self-collect without significant AV experience. A separate mixing console is required. Edwards hires a full range of analogue and digital desks to suit: from the Soundcrafts for straightforward events to the Allen & Heath SQ5 or SQ7 digital console for events requiring full multitrack input management, effects, and monitor mixes. Wireless microphone systems for presenters and performers can be added at booking. This system is typically deployed with an Edwards technician operating it so ask about operator hire when booking.
**Delivery and setup available; contact Edwards to discuss.**

About these speakers
The Convert 15A uses DAS Audio's transducer components for wide frequency range and impressive output, and the D.A.S. 15GNR4 loudspeaker, a 15" device incorporating a 102 mm (4") voice coil and a light-weight neodymium magnet assembly, for low frequency reproduction. D.A.S. Audio's Array Coupling Device (ACD) helps with coupling between adjacent units when used in curved source arrays.
The M-60N neodymium compression driver is designed to handle high frequency reproduction. The driver's 44 mm (1.75") voice coil is made using copper clad aluminum flat wire attached to a urea polyamide diaphragm. Three M-60N units are attached to the new BPS-320 dSERPIS trifunctional waveguide for optimum coherency as a horizontal or vertical curved source array or as a point source.
The Convert 15A's integrated electronics include digital signal processing, component and amplifier protection and a new 2000 W, three channel Class D amplifier with switch mode power supply (SMPS).
