The IPS-K-WM1 is a 2.4GHz digital wireless microphone for classroom amplification, presentations, meetings and mobile teaching. It pairs with the IPS-W1-R1 network wall mount speaker, so a teacher or presenter can speak through the speaker’s sound system while moving around the room, up to 10 metres away, with no mic cable.

It is the wireless microphone that ships with the IPS-W1-R1, and it is also sold as a kit for replacement or additional use with that speaker. It works with the IPS-W1-R1 only. It will not pair with the standard IPS-W1 or other IPS speakers.

Hands-free speaking, or hold it like a pen

The kit includes a detachable wired neck-worn microphone. Wear it around the neck, clip it on, or hold the unit by hand. The transmitter is a lightweight pen-style body weighing under 40g, so a full lesson does not tire the hand. Staff can also use the built-in electret microphone, which has an independent acoustic chamber and acoustic foam to help reduce noise and feedback.

Clear digital audio

Audio is transmitted at 48kHz / 16-bit over dedicated 2.4GHz RF with digital encoding, which helps reduce background noise, crosstalk and wireless interference. System latency is 15ms, so speech stays in sync with the speaker. Frequency response is 100Hz to 10kHz (±3dB), tuned for natural speech reproduction.

Built for the classroom

• Colour LCD: shows signal strength, pairing status, battery and charging status, operating channel and volume at a glance.
• Volume with memory: adjustable volume that remembers its setting, plus one-touch mute.
• Laser pointer: built in, for presentations.
• Audio inputs: 3.5mm audio and external microphone inputs for presentation flexibility.
• Channel selection: choose the operating channel from the menu, which helps when several classrooms use the system.
• Pairing: one microphone connects to one receiving device at a time.

Battery and charging

A built-in 340mAh lithium-polymer battery gives at least 8 hours of operation, enough for a full school day, and charges in about 2 hours over USB Type-C. A Type-C cable is included. The microphone shuts itself down after an extended period without signal or connection to save power.

Range

Maximum operating range is 10 metres. Walls, obstacles and other radio traffic can reduce range, and volume settings and usage affect battery life. Test coverage in the actual room before installation.

Works with the IPS-W1-R1

The microphone is heard through the IPS-W1-R1 only, or through the IPS-W1-R1 and a connected APS-W1 extension speaker. It is not sent to other speakers on the network. For paging across rooms or zones, use a microphone console, the IP Audio Dispatch App or SIP paging.
