Hire 200W LED Moving Head Hybrid Profile - HAVOCH200
The HAVOCH200 is the moving head that appears on more Edwards event rigs than almost any other fixture. It is a hybrid profile: a single 200W white LED engine that functions as a tight beam spot, a gobo projector, a colour wash, and a prism effect fixture depending on how it is configured. Eleven colours plus open on the colour wheel, seventeen static gobos plus open, eight rotating gobos plus open, a five-facet prism, frost, motorised focus, and a zoom from 4 to 30.8 degrees. At 4 degrees it produces 65,166 lux at 5 metres. The optics are sharp, the colours are accurate, and the gobos project with a crispness and definition that older moving head technology could not match. Hire code HAVOCH200.
It arrives in a dual road case carrying two units. The standard hire configuration is a pair, and most event rigs use them in even numbers because the symmetry of paired fixtures on a rig is both practical and visually correct.
Event Lighting's optical quality is what sets the HAVOCH200 apart from older moving head hybrids and other brands of similar specification. The gobos project clearly at distance with defined edges and accurate detail. The rotating gobos produce smooth, continuous movement without the banding or soft focus that characterised earlier LED moving heads. The colour wheel's eleven positions give clean, saturated colours with good separation between them. For clients who have used moving heads on events before and noticed the difference in quality between fixtures, the HAVOCH200 is the one that gets the comment.

What It's Used For
Beam and gobo effects on corporate stages. At its tightest zoom the HAVOCH200 produces a concentrated, directed beam of 65,166 lux at 5 metres that reads clearly across a large venue. Used in beam mode as part of a corporate production opening sequence, an awards reveal, or a product launch build, two or four units on a truss or totem overhead create the kind of aerial beam work that audiences associate with professional touring productions. The effect is dramatic without being excessive, and the zoom range allows the beam diameter to be adjusted to suit the scale of the venue.
Gobo projection as a break-up or texture. One of the most consistently popular uses of the HAVOCH200 at corporate events is projecting a wide gobo across the ceiling, a backdrop, or a stage surface to add texture and visual interest to an otherwise flat surface. At wide zoom with a breakup gobo — an abstract pattern rather than a defined shape — the projected texture creates depth in the room without drawing attention to itself as a specific effect. Guests notice the room looks good without necessarily registering that there is a lighting effect present. This is exactly the kind of ambient production value that distinguishes a well-lit corporate event from a room with fixtures in it.
Matariki and cultural events. The HAVOCH200's galaxy gobo is a kind of rotating star field pattern that projects across ceilings and large surfaces. For events around the Matariki holiday period in New Zealand, the galaxy gobo has become a frequently requested effect, creating a night-sky atmosphere that connects directly to the Matariki narrative of stars and new beginnings. It is also effective for astronomy events, school science productions, and any occasion where a celestial atmosphere is appropriate. (It is not an accurate depiction of Matariki, it is a generic galaxy shape). Ask the Edwards hire team about gobo availability for specific events.
Prism effects on stage and over dance floors. The five-facet prism multiplies the beam into five separated rays that rotate and spread across the space. Combined with the motorised zoom and the colour wheel, the prism creates the kind of sweeping multi-beam effect that fills a room with movement. Over a dance floor or during an entertainment segment at a gala dinner, the prism mode is one of the most visually impactful things the HAVOCH200 produces. It can be used alone or combined with a gobo to project multiplied gobo patterns simultaneously.
Theatre specials and profile work. In a theatre lighting rig the HAVOCH200 functions as an automated profile, replacing a fixed profile spotlight with a fixture that can be repositioned, recoloured, and refocused between scenes without anyone touching it physically. For school and amateur theatre productions where a small number of moving heads replaces a larger number of fixed profiles, two HAVOCH200 units can cover multiple special positions across a production by being repositioned on cue. The motorised focus ensures the gobo or beam stays sharp at any position within its range.
Stage key lighting in colour. With the colour wheel in open position and the zoom set to a medium angle, the HAVOCH200 functions as a coloured wash on a specific stage area. This is a common use in entertainment and DJ productions where moving heads are doubling as both colour wash and effects fixtures. The frost accessory softens the beam edge to produce a smoother wash character when a hard-edged beam is not wanted. For clean white key lighting alongside coloured moving heads, the fresnels (FRESWW3, FRESF96) handle the key light role and the HAVOCH200 handles colour and effect.
Corporate presentations with dynamic transitions. A rig that uses FRESWW3 or FRESF96 fresnels for the main presentation lighting and HAVOCH200 units for effects can transition between a clean, camera-ready presentation state and a more dynamic entertainment state simply by bringing the moving heads in and out of the picture. During speaker segments the HAVOCH200 units sit in a neutral position or park. During video playbacks, award reveals, or entertainment breaks they come to life. The QuickQ20 desk handles this kind of multi-state programming cleanly.
Control and Setup
The HAVOCH200 responds best to a properly addressed DMX rig with a capable controller. The QuickQ20 (QUICKQ20) is the recommended desk, as it carries the HAVOCH200 fixture profile and allows full access to all 20 DMX channels including the individual gobo, prism, colour, zoom, focus, and movement parameters.
The Wolfmix W1 MK2 (WOLFMIX) provides good beat-synced and automated control of the HAVOCH200 for DJ and entertainment events where full programming is not required. The built-in auto and sound-active modes on the fixture itself allow it to run independently without any controller, which is useful for background atmosphere effects during room build and breakdown when no operator is present.
The 2.4 inch colour LCD panel with battery backup means the display remains readable and functional even when mains power is briefly interrupted, and the RDM capability allows addressing and configuration from a compatible RDM controller without physically accessing each fixture on the rig.
The HAVOCH200 pairs well with the HAVOCW19 wash heads on the same rig, with the wash heads providing the broad colour fill and the HAVOCH200 units handling gobos, beams, prisms, and specials. The HAVOCH600 (hire code HAVOCH600) is the step up from the HAVOCH200 for events that require framing shutters, CMY colour mixing, or greater output.
Frequently Asked Questions — HAVOCH200 Hire
Why are these hired in pairs?
The dual road case carries two units and the symmetry of paired fixtures on a rig is both the practical and the visually correct approach for most event applications. A single moving head on one side of a stage creates an unbalanced look; two units, one each side, create a symmetrical picture. For larger rigs, four or six units extend the coverage. The Edwards hire team will advise on the appropriate quantity for the venue and the event.
How sharp are the gobo projections?
Very sharp compared to older moving head technology. The HAVOCH200's optical system produces clearly defined gobo edges with accurate detail at projection distance. The motorised focus maintains sharpness regardless of zoom position. For breakup gobos projected across a ceiling or backdrop the definition is part of what makes the effect work: soft, poorly focused gobos read as a vague texture rather than a deliberate pattern.
What is a breakup gobo and when would I use one?
A breakup gobo is an abstract patterned disc, typically a random organic or geometric texture rather than a specific shape or logo. When projected at wide zoom across a ceiling, a stage floor, or a plain backdrop, it breaks up the flatness of the surface and adds visual depth and texture to the room. At a corporate gala dinner or awards night, one or two HAVOCH200 units projecting a slow-moving breakup gobo across the ceiling creates an ambient richness that guests respond to positively without it reading as a theatrical lighting effect.
Can the galaxy gobo be used for Matariki events?
Yes. Ask the Edwards hire team when booking to confirm gobo availability. The galaxy pattern projects as a rotating star field across large surfaces and works particularly well on high ceilings in darkened or dimly lit spaces. The rotating gobo combined with slow pan and tilt movement creates a continuously shifting sky effect.
How does it compare to the HAVOCH600?
The HAVOCH600 is the larger and more capable fixture: 640W versus 200W, 83,800 lux versus 65,166 lux at 5 metres, linear CMY colour mixing versus a colour wheel, four framing shutters for precise beam shaping, an animation wheel, and a larger gobo complement. The HAVOCH200 is the right choice for events that need quality moving head effects without the scale, weight, and cost of the HAVOCH600. The HAVOCH600 is specified for major corporate productions, large-format theatre, and events where the highest output and most precise beam control are required. For most corporate events, gala dinners, and medium-scale theatre productions, the HAVOCH200 is entirely adequate.
Do I need an experienced operator?
For full use of the gobo, prism, colour, and movement capabilities a lighting operator familiar with DMX moving heads will get much more from the fixture than an inexperienced one. That said, the auto and sound-active modes allow the fixture to produce a good atmospheric result without programming. For events where the HAVOCH200 is used primarily as a breakup gobo projector or an ambient effect rather than a precisely programmed production element, an experienced operator is helpful but not essential if the fixture has been correctly set up and aimed at installation. Edwards can provide operator support for events that need it.
Is delivery and setup available?
