The ALTEAKIT is two complete DAS Audio Altea-20A column PA systems: two subwoofers and two column arrays, giving you a full stereo setup that you can have running in under fifteen minutes. Two thousand watts peak per side, 127dB peak SPL per side, bass to 37Hz, and a slim column profile that looks like it belongs in a premium venue rather than a hire truck. This is not what people expect when they hire party speakers. It is considerably better.

Each Altea-20A is a self-contained 3-way system; a birch plywood dual-10" powered subwoofer sits on the ground and the column array sits on top, held by a central pole. The column houses four 3" neodymium mid drivers and a 1" M27N neodymium compression driver on a 100x50 degree horn for even high-frequency dispersion. The dual-10" subwoofer handles everything below the crossover point with its long-excursion drivers extending to 37Hz. Set one up on each side of the room and the coverage is immediate and even with consistent volume whether you are standing at the front or the back.

Each unit connects directly to your music source via Bluetooth, 3.5mm AUX, or XLR/TRS inputs. Two XLR/TRS combo inputs handle microphones and line sources simultaneously, say, a microphone and a laptop can both be connected to a single unit without a mixer. A 3.5mm AUX input handles a phone or secondary source. The 1/4" TRS instrument input accepts a guitar, keyboard, or bass directly. DAScontrol LCD presets let you switch between voicing modes for different applications and a 3-band EQ allows further adjustment. The DASlink GM app connects via Bluetooth for wireless control from a phone.

The kit is packed in two road cases on wheels with one road case per system. Each case weighs approximately 48kg and is 680mm long by 800mm high by 470mm deep. Two-person lift required. What makes this different from a standard party speaker hire?

The Altea-20A is a column array system — the mid-high drivers are arranged vertically in a column rather than in a conventional box speaker. This gives it controlled vertical dispersion that keeps sound in the audience area rather than bouncing off the ceiling and creating echo and muddiness. The result is a cleaner, more intelligible sound in reverberant spaces like function rooms, marquees, and large open-plan houses. Paired with the dual-10" subwoofer in the same unit, the complete system delivers a sound quality and bass impact that consistently surprises people who have not heard it before.

Do I need a mixer?

Not necessarily. Each Altea-20A has two XLR/TRS inputs that handle microphones and line sources simultaneously, plus Bluetooth streaming and a 3.5mm AUX input — up to four sources can be connected per unit without a mixer. For a DJ controller, multiple microphones, or more complex source management, a small mixer adds flexibility and control. Edwards can supply a mixer alongside this hire if needed — let us know when booking.

How do I set it up?

Each unit assembles in a few minutes — the subwoofer sits on the ground, the central pole inserts into the top of the sub, and the column speaker drops onto the pole. Connect your source, select a preset on the DAScontrol LCD, set levels, and play. Full instructions are included with self-collect hires. If you have never set one up before it is genuinely straightforward.

Can I use just one unit instead of two?

Yes — single Altea-20A units are available as individual hire if a full stereo pair is more than the event requires. A single unit covers a smaller space very effectively on its own. Contact the hire team to discuss.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes — the Altea-20A is regularly used at outdoor events. The column format handles outdoor conditions well and the controlled dispersion keeps sound directed at the audience rather than dissipating into open air. For very large outdoor sites where longer throw distance is needed, the VANTEC-12A or VANTEC-215A packages may be a more appropriate choice — contact us if you are unsure.

Is delivery and setup available?

Yes. The ALTEAKIT is available for self-collection or delivery and setup by an Edwards technician. The road cases are on wheels and the assembly is straightforward, making it one of the more manageable self-collect options in the fleet.
