DAS Audio Line Array offers new experience for church goers 11-Jun-2021 Edwards
Inspire Church Albany in Auckland has been battling poor acoustics (a concrete factory-style building) and speakers that weren’t quite powerful enough for their live music offering. They turned to their long time AV partner, Edwards Sound, for assistance.
Church Project Manager and Sound Engineer Brenton James explains, “We had always found Edwards wonderful to work with and they have an established reputation for going out of their way to support churches and community groups with audio-visual installations.”
The Church was looking to upgrade their existing D.A.S Avant-215A system to line arrays, “We have always rated the quality and ease of use of DAS Audio so were keen to stick with them, but we did shop around.”
Will Vogel, Edwards’ Sales Consultant proposed the DAS Audio Event 26A, an easy and quick to set up ultra-compact, 2-way active line array system, “The customer was a bit concerned about the smaller size of this system, and whether it would be sufficient for their venue, in relation to other line array systems that they were looking at the time. Especially with the large number of musicians they have on stage on Sundays. That quickly changed when we did a demo for them and they could experience what these units are capable of.”
Brenton also appreciated Edwards flexibility, “We have a lot of capable volunteers who could manage the installation of the twelve speakers, saving us some money. Edwards were really open to this and provided excellent support and guidance.”
Edwards’ technician Shea supplied all the information that the Church needed, and after the installation he did the final processing setup, including time alignment with their current sub-woofers (two D.A.S Event218a’s).
The Church has been really pleased with the outcome, “We love it. It is a totally different experience. The quality and clarity of the sound is great. And we have really appreciated the excellent support.”
