The EMA's 22nd annual Health and Safety Conference elected to use the theme of a circus to highlight the issues around risk management. Titled "Health & Safety Performance: it's more than just the act," Leah Panapa stepped up as MC and ringmaster, joined by a bearded lady and with a theatrical backdrop. All that was missing were the sound, lighting and special effects.
Craig Garner, EMA's Health & Safety Manager, turned to EMA's go-to AV company Edwards Sound, "Ed, head of Hire at Edwards, is very hands on and we met with him to discuss how we could use lighting to support the circus theme. They suggested a cost-effective solution using up and down lights plus spot lighting to really highlight our ringmaster."
Craig also relied on the Edwards' technical support team to run the sound and lighting at event, "This time it was Brian, but whoever Edwards' lead tech person is, I know that our event will be faultless with them involved. They are so professional and confident in what they do and generous with their expertise, helping our exhibitors set up too."
For this event they went the extra mile, "At the end of a two-day conference everyone is tired so we really appreciated Edwards' help with pack out, not just their gear but everyone's. And as they had space in their van, they even transported some of our stuff for us."
Craig concludes, "Anyone who is involved in event organisation knows that if anything is going to go wrong, it is going to be the technology. Edwards always make our events seamless. I had to give Brian a special mention at the end of the conference because none of our speakers and delegates had even noticed him – always a sign that the AV support was spot on!"
